Elizabeth Finn Care is a charity that seeks to help people from professional, similar or closely associated backgrounds, who have fallen on hard times. They help around 3500 people per year spending over 4 million in direct grants.
"The Jumbo Run" which takes place in Brillac this year
"The Jumbo Run" which takes place in Brillac this year. It is a charity event for handicapped and mentally disabled children and adults. They enjoy rides in the vehicles and take part in an evening function including a meal and a disco.
This year it is centred in Brillac on the weekend of 17th - 19th June and I can supply details to anyone who wishes to support it.
The informal motorcycle club based at the L'Eau Vive in St Germain de Confolens had a memorial run on the 5th May to commemorate the life of Jack Taylor.
Two members of the Royal British Legion will visit all 57 Charentais cemeteries having British war graves.
On Wednesday 11th May, two members of the Royal British Legion arrive in our area to take part in a1000 kilometre cycle ride to visit the 57 cemeteries in the Charente area which house British military graves. They are leaving Charroux at 11am, arriving in Hiesse at 12 ish. They hope to meet the Mayor of each village for photographs, etc., a swift repas and on to Brillac and the next cemetery containing a Commonwealth war grave.
A meeting was held in Availles Limouzine to introduce the idea of exchanging services on a non-monetary basis. The meeting was organised by the MJC of L'Isle Jourdain.
We saw a small announcement in the local newspaper, unfortunately not in the Calijournal, about a meeting to be held in Availles Limouzine. It was not very clear as to what it was all about but as it mentioned food we decided to go.
The meeting got off to a bad start as people arrived at the Salle de Fetes and milled about for half an hour, then eventually headed off down to the picnic area near the camp ground.

At the annual general meeting of ALPA, the past year's events were reviewed with satisfaction. 1800 people attended the mini-festival with its theme of the sea and guest of honour Isabelle Autissier.

Other events had included a photo exhibition of flora and fauna of the region taken by members of the Saulgé photo club and two concerts one in Asnières sur Blour and the other in Luchapt.
